Did you not read the whole piece? I don't object to any of the reasons you have given. Well... not really. I actually do. Here's why . . .

If a non-techie gives all those reasons, I understand. I can't for the life of me figure out why people who call themselves "developers" complain about WordPress being bad

Why do you keep using plugins when you constantly complain about them? Why use WordPress for your full app when you can use it as a headless CMS and still manage to hit 100% on lighthouse?

If anyone calls themselves a "developer" they should understand by now that a language is only but a tool. You can't use WordPress to it's full potential if you are good or at least intermediate with PHP. It's that simple. If's funny that you say PHP is one of the worst languages since its inception yet WordPress runs most of the web.

Developers should stop hiding behind which language is better than the other. If you don't like a language for some reason, pivot to another language. I am not defending PHP here nor is it my first choice, but I do know how to work with it well enough to avoid the bad parts.
